October 2, 2018
Eleven boats travelled to beautiful Cannes in southern France for the 2018 editon of the Régates Royales and French Championship. Some moderns mixed on the water with some Evolutions and two Classic boats. Four sailing days were planned, but strong winds on the first two days meant only only days could be sailed. Five races were held.
On Day 3, finally three light wind races, building to 10 knots in the last one were held. It was a sailing day in paradise. Warm, enough wind and sunshine with the wind blowing from the south. New Moon won all races all three races on the water, but was scored OCS in the second.
Overnight Otto was leading after a 2,1,2 from Ali Baba and Feng Shui.
On Day 4 the weather forecast did not look good. There was bot much wind. Fortunately some awind arrived and the fleet was sent out around noon. The wind was weak and unstable but it was enough in the end for two races. New Moon dominated, picing up two more bullets with a match race against Otto in the Race 4 which was only decided on the run at the last leeward mark. After that, the wind started to build, to a beautiful 12 knot southerly.
