We are sad to report the death of Paul Anderson, who won the bronze medal in the 5.5 Metre class at the 1968 Summer Olympics together with Robin Aisher and Adrian Jardine.

This was the final appearance of the 5.5 Metre at the Olympics.

Before attending the Olympics he was the skipper for Sovereign at the 1964 America’s Cup that took place in Newport, Rhode Island.

Paul was awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2011 for his services to the Special Olympics GB, a sporting organisation operating in England, Scotland and Wales for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
